The board of directors and I continue to be excited about the new GMCC website. We hope that the launching of our new site will allow new customers and donors to find out more about the wonderful programs that we offer at GMCC.
Other goals include increasing communication with the larger community as well as between our clients, teachers and providers. In the coming months, you can expect to see individual program and classroom newsletters, lesson plans and upcoming events.
As always, we appreciate feedback on our programs; and we encourage you to share your feedback on the website.
About the Board
Parents and the community are always invited to share your insights with the board. The Board of Directors typically meets on the third Thursday of every month from 6pm to 8:00pm and child care is available for those who need it. We generally meet at the Hartford campus, but also plan to host the meetings at our Claremont campus this year.
The board of director’s role is to provide program oversight regarding the financial condition of the organization, provide governance to the leadership team and to approve policies and procedures for the organization. We are a dedicated group of parents and community members who care deeply for our region’s children, and therefore we are highly involved with raising funds for the programs. Board members serve on any number of committees and bring their work to the larger board for review and implementation.
This year, the board has approved upgrades to the computer infrastructure, the release of the new website in addition to reviewing the employee manual and the organization’s by-laws. Two of the highlights of this year has been the approval of two new scholarship programs: The Megan Brewer Professional Development Fund which supports staff with grant dollars for college-level coursework. The other is the Michael Vanasse tuition scholarship fund, providing scholarships to children attending our programs.
If you are interested in learning more about the board or have ideas that you would like to share, please join us at an upcoming meeting, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Together, we are lending a hand to the community!
